Wierd. I don't know if I trust this info completely. The belt on my 88 929 went about 10K miles ago and when I spoke to the dealership they said unless I was going like 90mph I should be fine. So, I bought a new belt and slapped it on. Sure enough everything is just peachy. This page says it's an interference engine:

Engine Interference Replace
3.0 Yes N/A

Not only that, but they claim it doesn't need to be replaced at the typical 60K interval when my owners manual and the FSM says it should be.
