Upgrading Ignition System with GM HEI Ignitors/Modules-Questions...
Right to the point-I seem to ramble on in most of my posts...
I haven't found much info on using GM HEI modules in place of stock ignitors on this forum, but I have found a link on here to *another forum* that had a wiring diagram for the GM units...
I'd like to use an aftermarket version of the ignitors, specifically Pertronic's "Flamethrower" HEI modules if the cost of them (around $50 each) would be worth the benefit...
I also have two FC leading coils, both still have ignitors. Do any aftermarket companies make a higher-output leading coil for FCs? If not (or if they're too expensive), how about using a Jeg's brand performance GM DIS coil in place of the FC coil in a 2GLCDFIS? These 2-post performance/high-output replacement coils cost about $35 each. As long as the DIS coil is (or can be configured as) a wasted spark coil, we should be able to use one on our cars following the 2GLCDFIS schematic/diagram, shouldn't we?
I would prefer to go the route of the 2GLCDFIS over the DLIDFIS, especially if I'm going to use the $50 flamethrower module in place of the leading ignitor. Has anybody even used an aftermarket coil (or even the GM/aftermarket modules/ignitors) in a 2GLCDFIS set-up? I'm interested in anything anybody can come up with; this upgraded ignition system will be used with a future 12-15psi boosted project...
OH-how about modifying the mechanical advance inside the dizzy for use with boost? Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas, anything would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks for the help guys...

Adam ,
All of this has already been covered on this site.
Here is the link for the GM HEI modules-
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/ignition-how-gm-igniters-replace-j-109-a-535624/
As far as high performance coils for the Fc, have never seen any nor would their be any reason as they are more than sufficient.
If you want the better of the 2 then go the DLIDFIS route and get some MSD blaster coils.
You can use the GM ignitor's with either system.
Or you can go the MSD route. Like I said this has all been covered 100's of times.
Regarding the distributor, Do a search with the terms "Locked" "Dizzy", it also has been covered extensively.
