Upgrading AC
Hey guys
Almost done cleaning out my 83 GSL for a restoration (kinda, restomod seems to be the term around here?) as it was TRASHED. Im gonna have to buy/make a lot of interior parts as i wasnt able to save much (quarter panels, the console, the door skirt thingies), and im looking at the dash stuff right now. I want to clean up the radio/AC area, etc. I was looking at the AC controls specifically, and well, Id rip the damn thing out, but i live in tucson. A few years ago, the first day it broke 100 for the year, it hit 117. SO, the AC stays .
Anyways, is there any way to upgrade the controls? Id like to get rid of the old slider matrix. IDEALLY, id love to toss in a small DIN sized digi climate control, but i havent found anything to that effect, and id have to do a LOT of custom work setting up the entire AC system over again methinks. Easier, is there any just replacement control? I was thinking that if I cant find anything, i could just program a little board to control some servos based on the **** settings, but Id like to take a stab and see if anyones found anything ...less time consuming first.

Yeah looks like im SOL, the 83 is totally mechanical, and i cant find anything to control it with aftermarket. Looks like i might need to make something up with an Arduino or such.
Btw, how long have you been in the springs? My brothers been there ~8 years now, im hoping to hop up there late this summer if time permits.

Hrm, i wonder if i could swap in the entire 84/85 system. That would be good enough for me.
Will do man. I dont usually see many around here, but i saw like 8 drive by today, weirdly enough. Id love to take a look at yours in person, i love that color.
