http://www.brownmound.com/body05/body.html

Finally got some pics of the body work and paint up. Still need to get some of the finished project, which I have been driving for over a month now.

Right on.

looks awesome, I wish my project would be making progress like that!

The paint almost looks like a copperish color rather then the brown, but I guess thats what your car maybe looked like before 20 years of weathering.

Keep up the good work!

It looks a lot more brown under natural light.

Right on.

Looks real nice. What color did you do the trim in? It looks like a satin black like the original paint.

Beautiful! Did you do anything to scuff up the chrome before you powdered it? And why did they try to paint over chrome at the factory, anyway?

The windshield trim, drip rails, hatch hinges and door handles were all powder coated semi-gloss black, I believe. I was really happy with how they turned out. I had a shop do all of it for $75 and $15 for sandblasting. Not bad IMO.

Not sure why they decided to use chrome and then paint it black. I think it was a time of transition...some cars still had chrome window trim back in the 80's. So maybe that's the story...The powder coating shouldn't fade and crack like the paint does after a few years.

I can't remember what the factory paint code was, but you can search and find it. I think the brown is called "Havana Brown Metallic." I just told the shop I wanted it the original color and trusted them to pull the proper code. I think they did, though it looks a little lighter, a little more "chocolatey" than the original. May be because of the clear cloat or just an error in the mixing. I'm happy with it.

I'll get some pictures of the Mound with everything instaleld up soon. I have some good photos at work, just need to get them up.

With the new paint the wheels don't look so good anymore. I think I may go with some 15" panasports, or keep and refurbish the orginal rims.

Right on.

It isn't chrome it is stainless steel, and by the way I love the paint choice.I painted my 83 LE a copper mattalic that is really close to that color a few years ago,and I love to see colors like that on first gens.

I'd say that colour ' could' be border line ' candy apple' root beer. it's bright and brown(y)(ish) nothing like the colour it was, or is it just me.. Some nice, cool wheels
would set off the colour too. Something either chrome or something with a nice 'dish'
polished alloy's or chrome. then it's just about a whole different car. looks good, man.
