the unthinkable....
Since having purchased my 3rd 1st gen, and my 2nd parts car, I think I have enough parts to make a stripped down, no frills, trailer gueen rx. I've been wanting to build a strictly strip car for so long, and now I think I have enough parts to do it, and still have parts for the 1982. I am rather curious about a 350 sbc swap, I know, for you purists out there, it's not rotary but would be such a sleeper and so dam fast. I wonder if anyone there has a write up on a sbc swap. also, already have a paint scheme figured out, Burnt orange and I'll call it Agent Orange, what do y'all think????

wow.. that was an easy decision!!!! all i saw was "To small block chevy or not" and was like NO!!! NOT ANOTHER ONE!!!
If ya want something liek that .. go get a datsun 280, and leave the rotarys for the true guys
Lol but ya, leave it rotary....thats one thing that pisses me off....the rotary in the RX-7 is the heart of the car, and if you take it out.....its not an RX-7 anymore...its just another car..............a boinger

Why make a 1/4 mile queen out of something with a damn near 50/50 balance? Get a mustang or camaro if you only want to go in a straight line....

I am hoping to make my car faster for a bit of strip racing myself. Though I won't make it strictly strip, I want it fast enough to be able to make some good passes.

SBC that ****. I mean if its strictly strip and you arnt tryin to run with jesus just put a V8 in it. You'll have more fun, and parts are way eaiser to get ahold of if you need a quick fix at the track.

If you want a car specifically for the stip....why would you not do the v8? everything would be cheaper when it breaks, and you could get a much faster car for the money. but it ultimately boils down to what you want your car to be. you have to make a choice between what you want as far as a setup (fast v8 or fast rotary) and what your funds permit you to have (v8>rotary).

Why not get the v8 the 50/50 is not thrown off that bad. i see you already have a few rotary cars why not have a V8 one but dont throw the old engine away sell it or something useful. Agent Orange sounds sweet haha

I think that it is ammusing that so many people get bent out of shape over this topis. My vote is to throw in a V8 and the turbo the living snot out of it. Then you are talking.
If you have a rotary, why own another? Do something different. Why own two of the same car?

I apprenticed all the input but due to heavy finacial strain, just found out my girl is knocked up, the agent orange will be sitting idle for a year or two. I haven't decided yet rather to rotary or not but if I do it'll be a 3 rotor or if not, a 350 with boost and bottle. laters y'all
