turn signals

I'm having a heck of a time with the turn signals on my 79 rx7. seems to be the blinker breaker (that cylindrical shaped thing with three plugs on it) I tap it and have blinkers, then none. I tried replacing it with a similar item from ORielly's but it didn't work. so now I have a blink instead of blinker. I found no mention of this breaker in the manual or Haynes

any thoughts

Being electrical, the only place you'd be likely to see it detailed is in the factory wiring diagram, & the parts fiche. Haynes books are not the best resource for electrical info.

I think the item you're looking at is the "flasher unit;" connects to F-03. Original part number was 399266830A (Unit, Flasher) but the stock one is square, not round. Mounts up under the dash next to the ECU.
