turn repair into upgrade

I have jsut had a major service done on my car and I need the brake pads and discs replaced. I was wondering can I turn this replacement into an upgrade by using different discs? Also what are good brake pads to use

Sure, you can got to WWW.VICTORIABRITISH.COM then order their slotted rotors and get the $29.99 semi-metalic pads those sholud be good enough. and get the steel braided lines for the front cuz the rear are way too expensive, or vice versa. That you gice you a good upgrade. Oh wait your in Austrailla, maybe I should read before I post. but make sure you change everything all around, wheel bearings, rear drums spring kit, drums that should be a good enough up grade. If you still have plenty of beef left on the rotors and drums just make sure to resurface them. Good luck let me know if you need help

I have rear discs, I think all Australian models did. The rotors are worn right down, 95% that's why I have to replace them. I will go off and have a look at victoria british, but I think there gear would have to be shipped here (=expensive).

yeah, maybe. Try to see your local Rotary shops see if they can get you an upgrade. Make sure you relpace the rear drums too if needed, and get that spring kit the first tiem it will save you alot of hassle int the future.

Get the street/slalom pads. They dust a bit more than normal pads, but you car will stop FAST.

Just get good replacement rotors. The SS hoses are nice but your only doing pads and rotors right? For pads I'd reccomend Hawk brake pads. The HPS or HP+

is it possible to put on different rotors, will that make much difference to the braking performance. Yeah, I'm only doing rotors and pads. Is it possible to use series 3 rotors? I don't want to change my wheel bolt pattern.

Ok, as I understand it, all austrailian models got the -SE suspension, so when you buy rotors, get them for the 84-85 -SE (Series 3) here in the states. That way, you keep the same bolt pattern (4x114.3) and get the right rotors that are the right size and actually fit . Here in the US, everything non -SE pretty much has smaller everything as far as brakes are concerned. Although, I may not actually be right, so dont quote me on that .

I personally plan on getting slotted rotors for the front, stock replacements for the rear, Hawk HP+ pads, and stainless steel lines.
