Turn and Click

When turning, at a certain point a small click noise will come from the engine bay. It is only at this 1 spot, and i cant figure out what the hell would make it click one time, at a certain spot in the rotation. Its when i turn about 1/4 left. Any ideas or anything i should look at in particular. Sounds like its near the firewall also.

Does it cause problems, are you having starting issues? I may simply be a relay energizing before starting. The choke and check relay is between the strut tower and the firewall.

Are you talking about an "electrical" click as you start the car, or more of a mechanical click when you turn the steering wheel 1/4 turn left?

Is this while sitting still or in motion?

does it while sitting or in motion. Not causing any problems, It sounds to me like an electrical click because no matter how fast or slow i turn the wheel the same click noise occurs. im going to try it while the key is off if i can get it to allow me to turn to that point.

You said it "Sounds like its near the firewall". Did you determine that while sitting in the car or while standing over the engine?

If you were in the car, get out. Have someone else turn the wheel as you listen over the engine bay. This may sound silly but if you don't have a stethoscope (and who does) get an old Christmas wrapping paper cardboard tube (or hose), place one end against your ear and the other at various places in the engine area until you locate the origin of the sound (be careful around moving parts!). It's pretty effective. You may find instead that the sound is actually in the steering column.

Does your turn signal return to normal (shut off) in both right and left turns?

Just taking shots in the dark here.

You may simply have a noisy drift wheel angle position sensor. It is easily made to go away by removing any section of your exhaust system.
