is turboing a 12a worth it?
is turboing a 12a worth it? i have been wanting to do a fb for a couple months so i went ahead and picked one up. i want the old wagan look (i.e. "devil z"). for power i am in a pinch. the car has a 5k budget and would like around 250hp at the wheels. could a turbo 12a get to that level. if so how reliable would it be? all ideas and knowledge would be a great help. thanks.

if you research a little about jdm youll see that they actualy have afactory 12A turbo engine. One of my friends has one at his house but he hes never installed on a car. personaly i have never seen one running. the engine looks just like a turbo II engine but it is a 12A. Something to look at. Just my 2 cents.

I think the mazda 12AT only had something like 170 IIRC which is a bit short of his want. Best bet would be a TII swap but again some people say its impossible to do for under 8 and others say they did it for 4000. Soo it all depends on how good a deal you can get and what all needs to be done.
With that kind of power you are going to start wanting to upgrade brakes (although some people will say the stock brakes are fine up to like 250 HP, but i dont think i agree with that but w/e) And those upgrades will start to up the price.

Did some one say something about 12A turbo? Is it worth it? That depends on how much of the work you can do yourself. I may have about a grand in my setup. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNG6JRoqXu8&feature=user

It could be done fairly cheap if yah kept the T2 motor with all the orginal wires and ecu. don't think it will hit those numbers without more work!
Got about 1,600 in my 12a turbo but i farmed a lot of work out to Bad83 and Bwaits etc etc

This is another option besides 12AT or TII
