Turbo Questions
From information I've gathered from other threads, much is involved in turboing an FB with a 12a engine. It's a long term project of mine to put a turbo on my 12a, even though I know many people seem to consider it sacrilege to do so. For now I just have a few questions on my mind regarding the process.
1) What would be the advantages or disadvantages to keeping a nikki carb? Or is this even possible? A lot of people who have turboed their 12As seemed to have purchased a Holley first.
2) Is a new ECU mandatory? From what I've gathered, a lot of people who've put turbos on their 12As also replaced the ECU too. Also is it possible to reprogram the ancient ECU from early FBs?
I am aware of the heating issues with well... ALL rotary engines intend to make all the necessary adjustments and purchases regarding cooling. I'd just rather keep as much of the original components as possible.

no ecu needed if ur going to run a blow thru carb setup. this ecu may mean something else for the carbed engine then what i think but to me an ecu goes hand in hand with fuel injection. a friend of mine bypassed the part of that box in the pass floor that keeps the fuel pump from coming on til there's oil pressure since i was swapping in a 74 engine and aftermarket pump. just didn't feel it was necessary. don't really know what all the little box does, if that's the one ur calling the ecu.
