turbo gsl-se? questions

i have an 85 gsl-se dead stock for now...my friend wants to sell me a FRESHLY rebuilt 13bt with a LARGEstreetport and tranny too...pretty much gonna be a brand new motor for 1500...he says that all i would need after that is an aftermarket ecu and a turbo...i was wondering if i could use a stock s4 or s5 turbo with a large streetport?...i want to keep the stock turbo becuz i dont want to kill myself i dont care if its gonna restrict any power (going from stock gsl-se to large streetport 13b turbo is gonna require some getting used to)...i dont care too much for power right now...all i want is for the car to run right and be streetable...and he says it will be with a stock turbo

would i be able to drive this car as a daily? and is this a good deal? do i need anything else besides the ecu and turbo to swap this in my car? or am i missing something else? any suggestions anyone? thanks guys

hey man.. dont mean to sound like a d#ck but have you searched? This has been covered over a million and 1 times already, just so you know. Well from what i know you can totally drive this car as a daily. If you can daily drive a turbo 2, why wouldnt you be able to drive an FB with a turbo 2 motor? its just a smaller car. Ive done it once years ago and never had an issue. Is it a good idea? id say so. WAY WAY funner than that stock 6port for sure! Id love to put another turbo motor in my car right now but i simply cant afford it at the moment. What else would you need? hmmm... youll need the front cover from your SE block, transfer it over to the turbo block. If youre gonna use the turbo tranny youll need a to make a custom mount and get a driveshaft made. dont forget the wiring harness. oh yeah.. id say use a S5 turbo if you can. that should work fine

lol ur kinda missing the point of the question...i already know that these swaps exist...i was just wondering how well would the stock turbo do with the LARGE streetport...and i was wondering how the drivability would be with a large streetport compared to a stock port....like would it be a bitch to drive it around with a large streetport or will i not notice a difference (in comfort)...of course its gonna be faster

I have a stock turbo on a large streetport. Works beautifully. You'll need to work on the wastegate, though, because the stock S4 turbo's wastegate is really tiny. With a streetport and a 3" exhaust (which you want) it'll have a strong tendency to boost creep.

Drivability of a streetport is pretty much the same as stock as long as it's tuned well. Actually, with a turbo it's better than stock because you'll actually have some torque down low.

Damn Royce, you sound like a D#ck!...........hahah Just kidding bro!

Buy the engine! Sounds like a great deal. If you don't want it, I might be interested.

Hey, I've got a brand new Series 4 turbo with a ported wastegate (I ported myself), and brand new exhaust mani that is sitting collecting dust (twin scroll flapper removed on manifold). I might be willing to part with it. Turbo came on a brand new motor I bought many years ago. I ended up using a BnR turbo. I'm located in OC. I also have a turbo fb

If anyone want's HID's for their first gen, click the link below, we only need like 4 more people (cheap plug to get more people so this can happen....lol)

I had exactly what you're describing. Large street port, stock turbo and a haltech. 10PSI stock turbo, dyno'd 250whp. fast as ***** and was very reliable as a daily.

I busted the stock rear end at 140,000 miles, and the old turbo went ka-boom a little later. All can be easily fixed, all can be avoided. Car never skipped. Rain, ice, whatever. Then I took it down to do some serious modding.

Only complaint is you can really feel the turbo limit the top end while the engine wants to keep going. Around 6000-6500 acceleration would taper off but still hold for awhile. The turbo just runs out of flow but the engine had a few thousand to go.

I know it's a no brainer but I'll say it anyways, your gonna need an intercooler. Front mount preferred. I had to re-locate my battery to make the home made piping for the front mount intercooler work. Since the battery went inside the car, I had to buy an optima. You will want to change out your fuel pump for the bigger bosch pump as well. I wish I could remember the site I bough mine... It was super cheap. I would think you would need a fuel pressure regulator.

I don't street race (at least, not with other people/cars around), but I really doubt I could take a newer 'Vette unless the driver was just a moron. I have neither enough power nor enough traction. Still, it's more than enough for having fun in the twisties.
