Tuning A Nikki For Smog Check

I convinced my FC to pass with a little tuning... Carb'd cars are way more tunable.. i'm not familiar with the Nikki. Rebuilt ed's hollys and quadrajunks before. I know there are some pro's on here!!

many moons ago i had the opportunity to tune the carb ON the smog machine, it was interesting.

car was an 84 GS, stock, front 2 cats were hollow.

when you adjust the idle mixture so the engine runs the best, it didnt pass

leaning it out MADE IT WORSE

richening it up a past the point where it ran the best (i think about a 1/4 turn, but its going to vary), the numbers dropped, and we ended up passing no problem.

this was on the old stationary idle test

on a dyno test you just need to make sure the air pump air is going to the exhaust ports.
