transmisson bolt rounded off

i am trying to drop my transmission so i can replace my clutch and i accidentally rounded off one of the bolts that hold my transmission to the engine. does anyone have any suggestions on how i can get that damn bolt off?

A small chisel, hammer, and patience worked for my and my oil drain plug.

well where the bolt is i don't really have enough room to fit a chisel or hammer, but thanks for the suggestion

Another option is to drill out the bolt and use a screw extractor/ easy-out. Since you cant fit a hammer and chisel i doubt you will be able to fit a drill up in there. When there is a will there is a way! dont give up soldier!

Try vise grips on the head if that does not work use a torch and after trans is off remove leftover stud with vise grips...ya it worked for me!

i had to use a stud remover, you know the kind that attatches to a ratchet.

You can also pickup a bolt remover set at Northern Tool or Sears. They look like sockets, with a very slow left-handed thread and really aggressive teeth cut into them. You basically pound them on and deform the head of the bolt, then use a ratchet to take them off.
