Transmission Help.

Transmission Help.

Long story to all this. But short.

I ruined my Last transmission. So i paid a shop to replace it and the clutch.

He claimed he Rebuilt a Transmission he had in his shop and put a new clutch in.

Well i drove it 15miles since i got it out of the shop. It makes a Screeching Noise once i hit 4k rpms and on. Feels like the car is slipping and lose of power because of it. I shop the Guy and he says its my Exhaust or my Motor.

Car doesn't make this Noise in Neutral or below 4k rpms.

Any info on this problem would help before i tell him to take all his stuff and give my money back.

So what could have gone wrong since he replaced every thing? The TOB? clutch not installed right? Break in Period. Transmission barrings not replaced?

Screeching noise above 4k is usually a slipping alt belt after the air pump delete. If it doesn't screech in neutral above above 4k, then it's not likely a belt. Most clutch discs require a 500 mile break in period. Try accelerating in 4th gear at 30 mph. If the revs go up but the speed increase doesn't match the rpms, the clutch is slipping. Also check the fluid level in the tranny.

After getting under the car more. The shop took off my exhaust and when they put it back on they didn't Tighten the bolts down so the Noise came from a small leak between the Cat. was pretty lame. so now i need to get new bolts.

was really annoying

If they didn't replace the gasket, do so. Nice to find simple fixes occasionally.

was just annoying . shop owner was just an *** about it. The Gasket looks new since the cat was replaced a few months ago. should i still replace it?

i call BS on this. he just happened to have a tranny for ur specific yr rx7 just laying around in his shop. it really sux that some mechanics can't admit that just maybe they didn't do something right.

You'll know when you get the pipes separated. Too often the gasket sticks to both flanges and tears/separates.

From the looks of it. its hanging between them and inst stuck to either side. Cat was replaced about 3-4 months ago.
