Tranny Swap?????

Question: Does anyone know if a 13b GSL Second Gen 5 spd transmission will bolt up to my 79 1st gen 12a.

If not, are there any conversion kits out there?

I have the car with trans. and rear end in tact.

Here is a link that will show you what is involved to just get a FB trans into a SA.

What you would have to do after that is to get a FB Trans tail shaft housing and put it on the 2nd gen trans. But you will still have the dilemia of what to do with the shifter console.

As far as the bolt pattern, they are all the same for 79-91 models. The lenghts are also the same.

If you had a late 80's Sa trans then you would of been able to take your shifter housing and shift linkage and transfer it to either a Fb trans or a Fc non-turbo trans and have it align up with the shifter tunnel.

it might be possible to put a 79-mid 1980 tailshaft housing onto an fc trans, the shift rod ends are different, but the primary difference is that they are bolted on, not roll pinned like mid 1980+. pj happened to have the late sa trans....
