tranny problems

so im getting off the freeway to day and all of a sudden i cant get the tranny in gear. i pupped the clutch and nothing? finally after a few minutes off directing traffic on the freeway exit i decide to try again and it goes in gear? the clutch peddle doesnt feel weak and it was like 110 in temecula today but do you guys think i may just need to replace the fluid? or what else should i look for?

Or you may have a bad clutch slave or master. Pull back the boot on the clutch slave and see if there is any fluid there. You can try to rebleed the system also.

i think if the clutch was bad it would be a lot easier to put in gear with the car on or off and i would have felt some slipping some where
right?

i checked the master cylinder and the fliud looked real dark and i took the shifter off and so no fliud.
im going to wait till i have some time off work and drain and fill the system

A chunk of the clutch can break off and jam the clutch, keeping it from disengaging from the flywheel. I think that was what Wacky was refering to...
