Question Questions on installing an engine...

Is there anything I need/want to do before I get the engine in the car? I'm just wondering, because I am getting back into the Rex and intend to be improving it constantly for the next few years, and would love to get something out of the way that'll be difficult latter once it's in. If there's anyone with some helpful info, I appreciate it.

On a side note, my intention for this car is to have a quick, fun, daily driver. I know there's allot of folks who scrutinize the reliability of this car, but in scouring these forums I think there's good many things to do to make her run for ages. Thanks for the help, if there's something already posted on this, please just post me a link.

When the engine is out its a good idea to replace the pitman arm if you have wonder steering.

Other then that i would Get some spray on truck bed liner and do the engine cabnet nice it gives it a clean look and it keeps the car from rusting and it cleans up with a water hose.

If you have time and some money get a front mount oil cooler it will help clean up the engine cabnet and it will save the oil life.

There are prolly plenty of guys who could help you get that set up.

when you do the front mount oil cooler you might want to see if you can find the full swap from a 81-82... if the motor is out of the 81-82 and you can get the flywheel get that and the front counter weight to put in your car as well(lighter factory)... one of the best mods i ever did to my 85 was a black magic electric fan conversion... doesn't add power just frees up the drive belts to be able to turn up the rpms faster( this is when the lighter flywheel also comes into play)... good luck and happy rotoring!!!
