Toyota CT26 on my rx7
i have an 84 gsl-se with a 88 n/a block, intake and other various 2nd gen goodies. i'm not worried about blowing the **** out of the motor just don't want it to happen right away. In case some of you are wondering a ct26 was used on the late 80's toyota celica all-trac, the supras little brother. My buddy is giving me the turbo after helpping and showing him how to swap a 3sgte into his celica, fuel preasure regulator, rewure a new ecu, new turbo, cams, air to water innercooler with a big heat exchanger, custom made exhaust manifold, down pipe, exhaust, ignition, intake, shocks, springs, adjustable camber, brakes and the list goes on. He owes me something. He's now known as the blow off ***** in lincoln, NE becasue everytime it blows off it's freakin loud. It'll blow your hat off your head, if your standing over the engine bay with with the hood open. Anywho, What are your thought's. i got the obviouse things like bolting on and the downpiping already worked out. i can get it on but would it be a good choice?

ok so your putting the turbo off of another car on yours?i got a little confused in the story,it seemed like you were getting sidetracked.if thats the case then i dont see why it wouldnt be a good idea, but what size turbo is it? you cant use the turboII mani(it wont allow the turbo to clear the n/a intake mani, several threads about this) the motor will hold up as long as its in good codition and you dont let it detonate. im sure you know all the little odds and ends(fuel pump, intercooler, piping, oil and water delivery if it takes water cooling on the turbo)but your gonna have to do something about the engine management either standalone(megasqiurt, theres a recent thread on that)or possibly swap to turboII electronics the apexi hack wont work.other than that it should be pretty straight forward.

i say if you really want to do it, then go for it. i have often thought about putting my CT26 on a 12A just for *****-n-giggles, but i ultimately decided against it simply because i'd want to run a better top end. i didn't think the fabrication would be worth it for me.
if you only plan to use it as a daily driver and not a race car, then the CT26 is a great choice. i don't think it would be good for racing because it is restrictive even for the Toyota 3SGTE (the turbine housing can't flow worth a crap!) however, it is ultra-responsive and i think that for the street, it would work well on a rotary. keep in mind that the 3SG and 7MG use different CT26s, and the 7MG is a bit better in exhaust flow, plus it has a slightly larger impeller. however, if you got that from a Celica All-Trac, then you have the smaller one.

Cause they're techinically rated at 3.2L if you go by some people.....Look how big a TII turbo is in comparison to say, the SRT-4 turbo. Rotarys have much more airflow and higher rpms.

far as i know the CT26 is one of the largest factory turbo's put on a gasoline engine (atleast on the MK3 Supras)... there is a bit of a difference on the celica's, i think the hot side is a bit smaller. none the less the housing will fit a 60-1 upgrade or bigger without problems, so airflow really shouldnt be a problem.
i used to run the CT26 on my Supra and its a really good flowing turbo for stock, but then i upgraded to a Greddy 20G and its even more fun
g'luck

Its way to small and besides, why try to put another car's turbo on a rotary when there are thousands of cheap,S4-S5 turbos out there that will bolt right up with no mods?
Sure, anything can be made to work, but why re-invent the wheel when the TII's 13B came factory turbocharged with a correctly sized wheels and A/Rs?Youll be much more succesfull and get it done easier if you use a TII T18 and manifold.

ok i for got to tell you guys some things. i a couple of sets of TII manifolds, one has been modded to put on this block. Also i'm working a ported TII block, i have a mega squirt setup on it. So right now, i'm just looking to basically blow the 88 n/a (as it's dying already) and have a little fun while at it. The ct26 came from a alltrac, he bought it from an older supra. The turbo only has about 3000 miles on it. besides the whole unquie factor apeals to me.
Here's the car it came off of.

To get the turbo on his car we had to clock the turbo some. but it all worked out.
