Totally confused on timing locked dizzy????
I'm confused and really tired of searching. I locked the dizzy weights to fully advanced. Now, I'm tring to set the timing. 99% sure I put it in right with the marks on the distibuter and the engine being set to TDC. I was informed by a reliable source to set the timing to 15 degrees for 6lbs of boost and 10 degrees for 10lbs.
Here is my problem. I can set it beautifully at 15 degrees at 800 rpm idle. Actually that is as low as it will go. That's where the stud sticks up to lock down the dizzy is at it's end of adjustment. It is turned fully clockwise till it hits the stud. I believe I read it that the two marks on the main pulley are 20 degrees apart. Mine no longer have the pretty colors to tell the difference. The leading timing sits nice at 3/4 between the two points.
Anyways after all that should I take the dizzy out and move it one tooth or take out the trusty dremel and make it so the post doesnt hit in the metal slot anymore. Just notch it so it looks like a U. I figure that would give me five more degrees of adjustability.

The factory notches on the pulley are at 0* and 20* ATDC not BTDC. If you have the leading timing set between these points that means you are running way too retarded. You want the timing to be locked at 10* or 15* BTDC.
