Took a trip to DFW in the FB....

I went to the Quad State Rotary BBQ in Arlington Tx yesterday. Close to 700 miles round trip and no problems. Well, the replacement driveshaft causes a mild vibration around 60 MPH, and again near 100 MPH......
Left Tulsa at 5:30 am, and arrived in Arlington at 10:30am. Then I left from Arlington at 4:00PM, and arrived back in Tulsa at 9:00PM.
Oh yeah, I also brought back the trophy for best 1st gen. Too bad I didn't get a chance to wash and wax the car before the judging..........

I don't have any pics, right now. I had to borrow a camera, and I don't have the USB cable to fit either the digital camera, or the video cam.
Look in the South section, and there are a few pic threads already posted.

5 hours for 350 miles? that seems awfully slow

10 hours is how long it takes me from the VLA in NM to LA.

Edit: congrats on the 1st place trophy.

You are forgetting about pit stops. Plus, it took about 1/2 hour to actually find the place once I got to arlington.
The return trip was interupted by the low tire sensor giving a warning light in the RX8 I was running with.
Most of the trip was at 80-85MPH, both directions. However, there were a couple times the speedo was in the triple digits......

Maybe he stopped to eat. Better than eating in the RX-7

My 10 hours trip included pit stops every hour or two to gas up, take leaks, and eat...

But I get it.

I bought my car about 2 months ago and drove it from Baltimore MD to Fort Benning GA(about 800 miles) with no problems at all. I got an average of about 26 mpg on all stock except for a high flow cat and pacesetter muffler. I love this car...

EDIT:: Its a 83 gs with 135k on the odo and 50k on a mazda reman motor....

I just finished a move in the RX-7. A little over 2300 miles with no problems. The 7 didn't like Nebraska though, the elevation killed the power, plus I had at least 100lbs of stuff. It was fun but my *** hurt so bad LOL. Congrats on the trophy

I know all too well about the sore ***. Between having *very* low ride height, and my toolbox and jack in the hatch, the roads in Oklahoma had my car bottoming out rather often. Add in the fact that I also have a vibration in the driveline that I was unable to cure before leaving, and I have a very sore *** today.
The vibration is caused by the driveshaft, I just swapped it in thursday, as I lost the front u-joint in my old DS. It really shook bad thursday, but I dropped it back out friday night, and scraped all the undercoating/dirt/crud off, and reinstalled it.
I didn't have much choice other than to run with the vibration, or stay home. Staying home was NOT an option, in my book.
I'll either get another driveshaft, or get my old one rebuilt soon. It's an '83, so it uses the "Non-serviceable" u-joints, and the local driveshaft service could not get it done friday.
Thanks for the props!

After reviewing the video I shot, I am ready to scream. The new tape I put in the camcorder, was junk. 3/4 of the video is so garbled up, you can't even tell what color car it is, much less what kind.
