Took out a Honda
ok, now I think I have the most smashed up Rx7 on the road! last monday I was driving around and it started snowing really bad. The roads were icy so I turned around to go home, but on the way back it was snowing so hard I missed my exit (couldnt see it). I took the next exit, but it was getting extremly slippery. As I pulled up to the stoplight for the on ramp in the left turn lane my tires locked up . I tried pumping the brakes, but that didnt help at all, then I pulled the e-brake, but that didnt make any difference either! As a last ditch effort to not hit the honda in front of me I tried to drive up over the curb onto the median (figured a no u-turn sign pole would do less damage than the honda), but of course my car wouldnt go over the curb.
I ended up hitting the drivers side rear corner of the honda, ripping off a good sized chunk of Honda bumper, smashing the tail lights, and denting the crap outta the rear fender. It was a 2001 Honda Civic.
The mazda took about as much damage as it dealt. The passenger side of the front bumper got smashed, the headlight smashed (the linkage broke, I have to prop it up all the time now ) and the very front of the fender got smashed into the bumper . The whole front bumper shifted about an inch foreward and 2 inches to the drivers side.
I thought my car was in bad shape (body wise) before! now I am desperatly looking for a new one!
Ill have some pics up as soon as I find some batteries for my digi cam

Too bad about your car. Good thing nobody was hurt. I can't decide whether its at least good that you did as much damage to the Honda as it did to you, or whether it really sucks that it was a Honda that damaged to your rex.

Ahh man, thats horrible! I am glad that you would rather hit a pole than hit another car. It shows that you are a considerate driver and one who looks to avoind an accident. Hope things work out for you

Thats not a whole lot worse than mine.
You should measure the wheel base on both sides to make sure the suspension didn't get pushed out. Go from center hub to center hub; front to rear. They should be about 95 1/2" both sides, if I remember correctly.
You can get the headlight linkage from mazdatrix. The fender and bumper will be harder.
I'd offer to sell you my car but it's not in much better condition. Sorry about the accident.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN. MY CAR WAS CRASHED BEFORE AND I DIDNT KNOW IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. So one day the Rack poped out as I was turning a sharp corner the rack broke the rest of the way and I drove it right it to the Coastal Farms building at 15mph point blank with no warning!!
All my friends laughed cause it was a funny story but man I was bumbed....Now that I think back I still miss that car... I need a drink

wow, I wonder if I did any damage to the steering or suspension? I have to drive the car around for a couple of weeks still, and I would really not like it if my steering suddenly failed on me .
Anyway, Im not going to fix it, Ill zip tie the headlight linkage back together so I can drive it, but I will be buying a new car soon so its not worth the repair. besides there are 2 other huge dents in it, and tons of ugly rust

yeah that is unfortunate accidents are no fun. almost wish you hadnt turned back huh. anyways it sounds like you got it figured out there is no point in fixing it once the car has been in a front end collinsion it no matter what will never be the same. alot of $$$ to fix at that plus now you can part the car out on this forum and possibly make more than the car is worth is it a gsl?
