Unhappy Too tall for my 82

Hey guys, having got my 82 last week and subsequently having fallen in love with it, ive come to the conclusion that it was made for small japanese people and not for big aussie blokes. Im over 6' tall and about 100kgs and ive noticed the roof aint too far above my head. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and has solved it or if anyone has any ideas. What about racing seats, will they be lower or higer or the same. Please help me. Thanx

Yeah, I'm pretty close to you, dimensionally... 6'3", actually. And... I am choosing to fix up my GS instead of my GSL for a reason. The GSL was such that I had to keep the sunroof open to avoid kinking my neck...

What we did on our race car was to take out the slider bracket for the seat and make a fixed position bracket for a race seat... basicially bolting it as close to the floor as possible. Doesn't move back and forth anymore, but my dad and I can sit in the car with helmets on now.

Try second gen seats. They bolt right in and I do believe that they sit lower.
Races seat have more adjustabilty if you want or need to go to that expense.

Get a glass moonroof - it frees up a few inches of headroom.

I'm about 6'1" and 105 kg myself and have no trouble fitting into either my '83 or my 85 GSL-SE

Im 6'4" and 116kg and have no probs fitting in the standard seats, with a helmet on its a tight fit tho,
i have a racing seat to fit now and will basically sit it on the floor.

I'm 6'3" and 180lbs, and i have somewhat short legs, a large torso, so I am real close to hitting my head. Its REALLY hard for me to wear a helmet in the car during autocrosses.

I'm 6'-3" and 195 lbs and just barely fit in my 83. Head hits the ceiling sometimes and my knee is really close to the steering wheel. This car is too fun to care about that though.

Adjusting the seat tilt (not the back tilt) takes care of that problem - but that might just be a feature on the SE.

My S only has the for-aft adjustment and the back tilt. Adjusting the back tilt helps, but I'm all leg, so its still a tight squeeze.

instead of racing seats, give SE seats a try. I drove the thing 3,000 kms with my knees rubbing the steering wheel before discovering that little lever...
