assuming the ngine doesnt smoke or leak coolant or oil, how much mileage is too much for a sued f that I dont want to have to rebuild for a couple of years?

http://www.digitaldutch.com/unitconverter/

the cars i'm looking at all seem to have between 180,000 and 200,000kms

With my experiences, 12A's only last around 200,000 miles, that is if they are not driven hard. I've seen engines blow after 15k miles of hard driving. All depends on your driving style. I got 202k miles off my last 12a.

I test drove (rather hard!) an FB with 240,000KM on it. It ran great, had TONS of power (shifting at 7500), idled perfectly, but was a rustbucket. I passed it up. The n/a motors really outlast the cars

It all depends on the car, though. Is the rest of the car in good condition? 180,000km isn't that much, really! Is the compression good? how bad is the rust situation? Interior worn? do you care?

Elanore (my '85 GSL-SE) has 222,000 kms (138,000mi) on her, with at least 1/4 of those being under VERY dubious maintenance circumstances. I've had her for about 20,000kms (12,500mi) now with excellent maintenance and she runs GREAT! Marvel Mystery Oil does wonders!

Elanore's only problems relate to her rust and electrical problems.

It all depends how it was kept up... I have seen 12a's run for 230k+ but the vehicle was maintained correctly... have to watch out for the people that are changeing the oil every 25k miles
