Tokico question and spring install

hey guys. I am planning on buying tokico hps for my 83. The rear is no prop but i was wondering if when buying the fronts do you get a cartridge or do you get the whole strut with the spindle and all. Then have to transfer over the hub and what not.
Also i just installed some suspension techniques springs on stock struts and noticed that due to the shorter length of the spring, when the strut was out of the car and the spring was installed with the top mount and bearing all snugged up, the spring was still not tight on the strut. i could move it up and down and round and round. I know it really shouldnt do that. Has anyone noticed this before or just installed them and not had any problem like this. the spring tightens up when squeezed between the control arm and what not but just wondering.
Thanks

fronts are cartridge. Even with newly installed tokico struts (as in example), there will be a gap between the spring and the strust tower/perch. thats normal for cut or lowered springs. u should worry if one side is higher than the other. but thats another topic.
