Title -vs- VIN

I have been calling my 7 an '84, but I read in the FAQ's about VIN's and mine looks to be an '83. It is titled as an'84 though and all numbers match. What do y'all think?

If you've still got the original stickers, open the driver's side door and look on the body where it closes. It should tell you the month and year of your car's body's manufacture (which usually coincides with the rest of the car of course)

If that sticker is gone/painted over/in horrible condition, then the only thing you can go on is your VIN as Rotary Ryan said.

according to your VIN, your car is an 85.

The tenth character of an
80 is "A"
81 is "B"
82 is "C"
83 is "D"
84 is "E"
85 is "F"

On www.rotorhead.ca, it says that 81 is "A" and so on, but i think thats wrong.

So as far as i can tell your VIN says your car is an 85

What differences, if any, can I expect to find(due to it being an '85? Or are there any? I have rear drums, so that means no LSD, right? I have manual windows and no leather. I really do know what all differences there were. Actually, I guess I don't care that much, as long as I get the right parts when I need them.

all you *should* need to know to get parts if your car is stock. is its an 85, 12a(it is a 12a carbed right?), and it has rear drums.

Also square dash vents were 84-85, and round were 81-83. Maybe '83 was a wierd hybrid year - can't quite remember. Ooohh, the large round clock was 84, 85 only right?

Edit: Pedro, welcome to the RX-7 forum. It seems that you're pretty new to forums in general, so here's a little background info. First there's the FAQ which is sticky near the top of the thread list in the 1st Gen Specific section - definitely give that a read through before you post asking questions that have been dealt with time and time again.

Also a bit about forum etiquette. It is in bad taste to interrupt a thread with a question that is completely off-topic. It's not really fair to the person who started the thread and needs help. It's called hijacking a thread and you’ve been doing it. It's not a HUGE deal, but now that you've been told please don't do it anymore.

What you need to do is first search (there's a search button just under the banner at the top of the page) where you can search for something like "Rotor Housing" and you'll probably get some discussions that will answer your question. Failing that, start a new thread in the First Gen section (where this thread is) with a title like "Where can I get Rotor Housings" or whatever and someone who is browsing and knows will then help you out. Posting within a thread about VIN numbers is not only improper but also ineffective.

Welcome once again.

Well from this info, I'm going with an 84/85 GS for now. I'll post a pic of the wheels soon.

...I just found out through this forum, a couple of weeks ago, that my 'S' model is actually a 'GS'. I've been playing with my car for over 13 years!

I smiled and said welcome twice - what more do you want?

Honestly I was just trying to help him out but sometimes written words just come off wrong.
