Tired gsl-se 13b

It runs well but damn is it smoky. I'm about 95% certain it's burning oil due to age. The odometer has 213k (not currently working) and I assume it's the original engine. I have only owned the car one month. Since I feel I will be able to locate a used s4 13b with relatively low miles easier than a replacement gsl-se 13b I may go that route.
I have searched a bit but so far haven't found an answer to my question:
Is there any reason I couldn't take the s4 short block and run it with the se's ecu? I understand the intake manifolds are different. Perhaps I can adapt the se's manifolds to work and run the two 680cc injectors. I don't mind fabrication if that's what it takes.

Hooray, I must have finally used the correct search terms!

I found this info posted by rx7 doctor:
1. You can install the FC engine and find all of the SE injection stuff including the AFM, upper and lower intakes, etc and install them on the S4 engine. You would then run the stock SE ECU.
He also mentioned one would need the fc flywheel.
If anyone has additional info to share please do.

Sounds like you're on the right track. But, in the mean time, you can try this:

1. Dump one can of Seafoam in the gas tank.

2. Replace 1 or 2 quarts of oil with Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer.

Do that, and you should see a large reduction in burning oil, and a bit more pep out of your tired motor.

If you end up getting an S4 motor, you might as well keep the S4 intake as well. There are a few threads about putting an S4 intake on a GSLSE motor. It takes a little work, but if you're tearing apart the intake anyway it might be worth doing. My engine is good, but I'm seriously thinking about doing the S4 intake myself sometime.

I currently have one quart of Lucas oil stabilizer in the car along with castrol gtx 20w-50. Maybe another quart would make a difference? Like I said it really runs well and it's a bummer it's burning so much oil.
My other option would be to attempt a fuel injected 12a setup utilizing the se's intake components, ecu, etc. and most likely intermediate housing. I have most of the pieces to throw together a 12a. The plates are even scribed and ready for a streetport. How do you think it would run with the se ecu? I expect to end up fabbing some sort of lower intake manifold to mate with the se's upper if necessary. Also I would have to somehow modify the 13b racing beat header to fit the 12a. Bottom line is I wish to go the cheapest route since I have two other long running rx7 projects that take precedence.
Thanks for all the assistance thus far fellas! Keep it coming
