tire woes

i'm having a hard time deciding what i should use for the autocrossing. here's how it goes:

a. i could use street tires at the autocrosses, just get a nice set and mount 'em on my nice wheels.

b. i could use racing compounds on the stock 13" wheels at the events, and daily drive on the nicer 15" wheels.

c. i could use racing compounds on the nicer (but heavier) 15x7 wheels at the events, and daily drive on the 13" stockers.

help me decide.

depends on what classs you want to run in. with that in mind a or b. c is ridiculous as your not trying to style. the r compounds are available for the 13" in lower profiles then the original 70 sidewall and will increase your acceleration due to running smaller wheels.

Is cost of any particular concern?

not REALLY. i realize that race slicks are more spendy.

i'm kind of leaning toward some DOT style tires. like falken azenis (been hearing a lot of good about those)...

and maybe some nice wet-weather street tires for the stock wheels (since it does rain here pretty often).

I am assuming you are running in a CSP class? If so you cannot use slicks but must use a DOT tire. The most common are the R compounds you can find from various manufactures. Run the 13's with 205/60's. Khumos or Hoosiers. Hoosiers are supposed to be lighter.
