Tire Suggestions

So I ordered a set of Falken Ziex 502 tires in a 205/60R/13 today and was pretty excited that I found some performance tires for my stock wheels. Like an hour after I ordered then the dude at the tire shop calls me and tells me they only have one tire left on earth. So now that I can't get my first pic I wanna hear what other performance tire is out there for the stock wheels. This car will still be driven mostly on the street so I don't wanna hear about some competition tire that will wear out after I back out of my driveway.

I have the stock rims on my 79 rx7 and i put on a set of cooper cobras, they are supposed to be a good tire for the money and they should ride good and they have a nice tire tread, they are rated pretty good on speed and traction. you should check them out ontheir website.

I picked up a set of Sumitomo - HTR 200 195/60R13 84H for the front about a month ago. I've been pretty happy with them so far -- a lot grippier than the old tires I had. I don't now first hand how well they wear, but I've been told that they don't wear too quickly. When my rear tires wear out I'll be picking up another set of them.

Are the Falken Ziex 512's available in that size? I have a set of 502's currently, and wish they were still available. Of course, I won't have as difficult of a time finding replacements when the time comes, due to having 15's on my car.

205 width is not optimal for a 5.5" wide wheel anyway.

The Sumitomos in 195/60/13 would be a great choice.

Plus, they're pretty cheap.

My general tire advice is to get ROUND ones, or if that isn't possible, triangular (an improvement on the square wheel, it eliminates one bump)

I haven't heard good things about the cornering ability of the sumitomo's I have had like four or five people tell me the sidewalls flex like crazy and the steering turns to mush and is all sloppy. I really want a tire that will grip really well but still last me a year or two. I drive really hard on the toyo's I have right now but they are starting to wear out and it is getting scary driving in the rain. I want to find the highest performance tire they make for the stock wheels. The Toyo RA-1 I have been thinking about but they come with like 6/32 treadlife and I feel like I would wear those out too fast for the price.

Maybe they are running too wide a tire for the rim width because I'm running a set of HTR 200s on my Fiesta and they don't exhibit any of the problems you mention. But then I'm running a 185/60/13 on a 6" rim.

I have a set of the HTR 200's on my stock GSL-SE rims and will that they are a great tire. I only drive my car in decent weather so I can't speak for wet traction but in the dry these things are very good grippy tires. I'm running stock size (205-60-14) don't believe sidewall flex to be an issue, though my suspension set up may also help allot with that.

i have some Bridgestone Potenza's (not sure of the model, i'll check and post in a bit) in 195/50 on some enkei rims, and when i actually drove my car (the day i bought it, it's been in pieces ever since), they gripped real well and were real progressive at the limit/with the "infamous" throttle on oversteer

I have the same tires! They are pretty good tires for price.. They are as close as you can get to a "performance" tire.

I would think w/ a 195, you would want a 195/70/13 for the stock height.

I though I would jsut throw this in, a circle is actually like a 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 sided object, so actually a square is better than a triangle.....(the closer the points are together, the smaller the bump, and so much easier to get over)

LOL!

The Fiesta is all about cornering, laddie.

It's superior cornering is what enabled me to take 4th place in my autocross class last season against a field of much newer, more powerful cars.

But to be fair, I race on Yokohama A008Rs.

I run Toyo Proxes RA-1 tires on the stock + wheels. I'm running 205/60R13's. You won't be disappointed. Stickiest street tire I've come across.

lovintha7 do you know about how many miles one could expect to get on a set of the RA-1's? I have had my seven for about a year and put about 8,000 miles on it.

Does anybody know of a website to find a good deal on these, they are pricey. Cheapest I have seen is around 100 - 110$ saving a few dollars would definently help out?
