tire sizes

I have heard all kinds of things bout how hard it is to find a good 13' tire but i found this neat thing one tire rack and look at these sizes.
225/45ZR13 $151 hosier race tire
215/50VR13 kumho ectsa
235/45VR13 kumho ectsa
175/60HR13 kumho ectsa

hmm looks like there are some very nice tires in 13' size but a 45 series might be too short on a 13' then again i allways wanted a lowrider.

just thought i would share this cause i would have order some kumho instead of the simimoto cyclones i got.

45's will help acceleration by lowering gearing and lateral grip/turn-in due to the shorter wall. whether the 225 will fit, i'm not sure since the tire is quite a bit shorter.

it's the chicken and egg thing ... now you've found tires, but where are the rims on which to mount them? i wouldn't put anything wider than 205 on the stock rim for a street car. after seeing one guy rip a 215/50 off a stock 13" rim, i would be quite reluctant to try anything wider.

good piont but i have 205 50's and the fit good but they are a real hard compound they where like steel. And grip pretty well it is almost impossible to brake them loose under normal conditions. The 50'2 i have are wynstar i don't knwo anything about them they where on there when i got it and i just can wear them out. they have 48k of hard miles and still like new

MOST came with 185/70s. Some prefer to upgrade to the 205/60s. If you get 45s, your car will look like a Micro Machine, IMO. Good luck.

Those 45's look a bit undersized...sorta like roller skate wheels on a school bus...or maybe 4 space saver spares.

Heck, should have seen the fun the tire shop had mounting my 215/50/13's on a 7" wide wheel! I think the 215/50/13 is SWEET on a 7" wide wheel but won't do it again. With only 13" of diameter, seems there isn't much flex to the tire, then you take it further by making it 50 series short and they're VERY rigid and hard to squeeze onto the wheel.

215/50/13 in back, 205/60/13 in front, all on 7" wide wheels doesn't look too different front to back.

Stock 13" wheels? Nothing IMHO to be gained running anything but the 205/60/13. I'd try a 215/60/13 if there was one to try, but anything shorter than the 60 would be hard to mount.

50 series tires on 13's are easy compared to 35 series going on reverse mount 18's.
