Tire options for stock 13" ?

I'm looking at tirerack and it looks like the options for stock(ish) size tires are pretty limited.

Are there any favorites for generally-spirited driving and occasional autocross that can be spooned on a 13" rim? I'm looking for summer tires; we don't get much freezing weather and when it's like that I'm not driving the Mazda.

I have the Falkens. For being a 13" tire they perform nicely.

There are no street performance tires in 13" anymore unless you step up to a Hoosier or Toyo
which are both basically race rubber. If your serious about autox, get some extra rims and some
hoosiers to swap on.

I'm stuck in the same boat, I'd love to upgrade the rims but I don't think this frame is a keeper so I'm looking for some simple rubber to keep it going for now. I've always loved having 205/60's but now other than autocross rubber I'm out of luck.

One choice I see, which could end up being horrible is the Federal Formoza FD1, I don't drive this car much more than 10k per year so it might work out. I haven't been able to find any reviews from someone putting these on a 7, which is probably some kind of indication of what I'm getting into lol.

Anyone looking for winter tires I had great luck with the Hankook i*pike RC01 tires in 175/70/13, approx $60 and studdable if you're into that kind of thing. Did really well for a light RWD car on snow and ice in northern Canada, no troubles running errands around town in temps as low as - 20C/-4F (it gets all the way down to - 40 here before the windchill sometimes)

It's not very hilly here and it's too cold and dry to get really deep snow, lots of hard packed roads. I was a parking lot drift hero and feeling just a little to old to be having that much fun driving like I was still 19.

The crappy tires of today are generally as good as or better than the good tires of yesteryear. Technology.

just invest $400-500 in the ever-popular enkei92 or rikens, and your options expand for autocrossing

Yep, unless things change in the tire world, once my current Futuras wear out, I may have to retire the waffles & go to larger rims just to be able to buy tires. Which will blow.

Thankfully, the RWLs are holding up nicely thus far, and I'm only putting a couple thousand miles a year on the car.

I have found a source for 205/60/13 tires through Mega Tires in Lincoln Nebraska. This is the only place in the country that I have been able to get these. Phone number is 402-323-4237. I believe the brand is Pro Meter.

I had to run General Altimax tires on my 7's stock + wheels. Weren't bad, but didn't put many miles on them and never raced them - not sure I'd want to either seeing as they're put on minivans and passenger cars.

See..... I'm pushing for the transfer to Jakarta's Bridgestone factory. (thats where the 13" Primewell molds are [also china])

Once their I'm gonna MAKE a set of 205/60r13's for the "common man".

I'll call them Pastera's (combo word past and era hahaha) or Speedgazoms.

I would love to have a set of meshies on my 7, however they don't seem to come up for sale very often where they won't cost me a buttload of shipping and duty charges. I was so so close to getting a set a few weeks ago, I was even ready to have a buddy in another city hand over the cash without seeing them in person myself since the seller and I were more than 10 hours apart.

Of course I just had to ask him to measure them one more time, and they turned out to be 4x108. I was desperate enough to consider "wobble" or corrective bolts for a few days but decided to reconsider since I drive it hard and there are some massive potholes around here. I guess I have to keep looking or pony up the cash and have a set shipped up from the states.

Primewells in 185-70-13 are available for $47 each. Just found them online and available from my local firestone dealer. I don't need them, but they look pretty good for stock wheels and look.
