Tire offset question?

Okay looking to put FD wheels on my 81 FB and I want to go with 17's can any of you guys tell me the offset that I would need so that I can get those FD wheels on my car...already have the adaptors to put them on but I know the offset will be different so I really want a couple of opinions before I go out and buy my wheels!! thanks

it makes a very big differance.

if you have an SE then you can probably just put the wheels on

not sure what model it is to say the least I can't tell anywhere...it has all the available options fully loaded to the max and has stock disc all around but didn't have any badging other than mazda rx-7 when I bought it...and the info patch in the door jam has been ground off...so I'm not sure if its a gls-se just a plain se or anything for that matter...I know my way around these cars pretty good but other than being factory fully loaded I can't tell much more than that

Well, since you have an '81 it is not a GSL-SE. The GSL-SE was only available in '84-'85. The lug pattern that you have is 4x110 mm. I believe that the FD wheels are 5x114.3, but you will want to check to be sure. I think the non-SE cars run about a -17mm offset with no spacers while the GSL-SE is around -38mm. I'm not sure off hand what the offset is on the FD wheels.
