headers + flowmaster = tincan. Flows and rotaries just don't go.

Yeah the header opens the sound up more. The stock manifold does a good job and quieting the system and giving it a meety tone

It's not your header, even though it will make it louder, but not the tingyness. Its the flowmaster you put on. Get a borla or something with similar quality. Not ones that are fiberglassed packed.

It could be that you are now able to hear detonation where before you weren't. I would check the timing to be sure...

thanks kentetsu, yeah i checked the timing and its dead on so i guess its my stupid muffler, and it might not have made the sound before due to a cloged cat.

thanks to all, Kent D.

The side inspection plate on the engine, take it off and spin the engine over until the flat side of the flywheel is parallel to the flat side of the engine block, that makes your engine at TDC. Then check your timing marks.

Also, if you are running aftermarket exhaust tubing, it will cause a ringing or pinging sound. Mine is ran with mostly import tubing (1/16"), and I know that with a 1/8" tubing the pinging would be MUCH less. Although with 2 flow-through mufflers, I can barely hear it.
