Timing settings for turbocharged 12a

Hey guys, my car is finally together, and running for the most part. I currently have the timing set to factory, with the leading at the yellow mark and the trailing at the orange. What should I set the timing to from here? I plan on running 12-14 lbs of boost. I've already locked the dizzy, jsut so everyone knows. Oh yea, I also wanted to show off my lastest purchase! (check out the attached picture) It's a s4 turbocharger, rebuilt and modified by turbonetics! The stock s4 turbo I was using was the only "weak link" in my entire setup, as far as I'm concerned, and I took care of that real quick. I tried to go top of the shelf with everything else. Anyways, thanks for the help

set the timing at 10 deg. total advance leading with a 3 to 5 deg. split.. or you could run the leading on top of the trailing....nice torbo upgrade you got there!!

it was $550 for the rebuild and upgrade. But i got it off a guy who had just gotten it done, but never installed it, so i cant say for sure exactly how much it was. Anyways, it was a stock s4 turbo, and I wouldnt say it was necessarily holding it back, but im shooting for high hp numbers, and have gone all out with everything else on te project. Fuel cell, aeromotive pump and regulator, all SS fuel and oil ines, large spearco intercooler, turboxs bov, etc... I plan on eventually boosting higher than 12-14lbs, and taking all the necesary precautions with the motor, so i want a turbocharger that can support that

IMHO 10 degrees is a little to retarded for that sort of boost, i would be running around 14degrees.

id run 10 degreed when your up around 18-20psi

Thats dependent on you running 98octane fuel

haha, sounds like I will stick with 10 deg advance, or maybe I could run an alcohol injection system to boost octane (mmmmm, next project possibility)

I tried the alcohol injection thing. It didnt work when I tried, but I think I was adding too much (it got slightly richer but lost 20 hp to the wheels). I need a dynograph to properly tune it. I am wondering about the whole idea on a street car, though. I think that if it were to add horsepower, it would be to the point that if it werent there, your engine would run too lean and blow up (the alcohol needs to replace some gasoline instead of being added on top of, where it gets too rich and loses power). Just a thought though
