I'm gonna try advancing my timing tommorrow. I just finished marking my pully, and it looks good. Basically my questions are, For vacumme advance should i set the timing with vacume advance disconnected, and then reconnect them afterwards, or just leave them off. second, As for total advance of L 24*BTDC and T 16*BTDC at 4000 RPM, I suppose that the stock split is 20*, I should change this to 8* aparently. seems like this is a big difference from stock. I will set it at 4000 Rpm but theoretically at idle it should be L 4*BTDC and T 4* ATDC. Does this sound right? Also my mods include no rats nest, header to straight pipes, and DLIDFIS. Is L24* and T16* ok for this? Thanks alot for the help guys. ~Matt

 

Set it with the vac disconnected. TO connect or not connect, your choice. For the street, no reason not to. Oh, well if your setting it at 4000, dont worry about the vac advance, just leave it connected. Yes, the 24 16 is the timing most use.
