Sounds like you need to re-stab your dizzy.
Rotate engine (19mm socket on front hub) until timing pin lines up with yellow mark on pulley, remove dizzy, line up mark on shaft with mark on gear, re-stab dizzy, check timing at 750 rpm.

Make sure everything is hooked up correctly. There should be markings on the cap (T1, T2, L1, L2) and there will be markings on the motor as well (front rotor is 1, rear is 2. Bottom is leading, Top is trailing).

Leading ignition is adjusted by rotating the entire distributor.

Trailing is adjusted by sliding one of the vacuum pots in/out.

Good luck....

Take of your cap and hold your rotor while you reinsert the dizzy. That will keep it from slipping a tooth. Check your flywheel and front pulley for correct tdc. Pulley could have been installed wrong.

Air and fuel settings can be found at www.sterlingmetalworks.com Just look for the section titled "Tuning the Nikki".
