Time of year again|choke problems

Well, choke has always seemed to work fine for me. Even last winter here in N. IL things were fine, but this year it don't look to good.

The choke is supposed to make the car start easier, but apparently this year it's doing the opposite. I have an easier time starting without the choke and when the choke is out, i swear it sounds like she's running on one face of one rotor. But if I put the choke back in, things are fine...revs up perfect and doesn't backfire like crazy like the it does when the choke is out.

Now, It seems that I could just start without choke and let her run to warm up, but that would take 10 years and plus she won't stay running without some sort of reving. I've got to keep the accel down so she runs at about 2-3k RPMs. SO now my foot is doing the choke's job.

Anyway, opinions anyone?
Thanks.

Alright I'm with you on this. I don't have to drive my car everyday (not a daily driver, just for fun). Anyway, it's getting to be that time of the year where it's pretty darn cold and so the 7 is going to have a nice little break this winter because RWD + snow = bad news. Anyway I went to start her up today and it sounded absolutely terrible. There are two things that I am attributing this to
1: 20w50 oil
2: the cold start assist
I know everyone's going to ream me for not having a lighter oil especially when it's this cold out. Secondly, I just didn't think that cold start assist deal was that important, but after today anything is worth a shot because that was the worst I've ever heard my car run. So tomorrow I'm going to switch out that 20w50 and put in some 10w30 then look up what I need to put into that cold start assist which is under the windshield wiper reservoir and fill that baby up. Then I'll post up the results. If anyone else has some cold weather suggestions (I know there are a lot of Canadians on the board to help us out) post it up!

Well, I ran 20w-50 last winter with no problems and I believe the cold start assist is useless as I took that out last winter too and the car ran fine. heh

Well I put some 10w30 in today and it seemed like it ran a lot smoother but it was also a lot warmer. I didn't get around to the sub zero assist though. Well see what happens again when it gets cold.
