time to give my 7 some lovin' - help:

okay - so after reading a few posts on here, i've decided to go buy a bottle of marvel mystery oil. My purpose for buying it is mostly for preventative purposes, and i'm sure the engine has plenty of carbon in it that it could do without.

so the question arises: what's the best way to go about using it? i've heard that you can put it in your fuel tank, you can put it in yout crankcase w/ the rest of your oil, or your can squirt it directly into the combustion chambers via the sparkplug holes. how should i go about it?

also, i'm interested in making sure my carburator is in as good shape as possible...that is without having to dissassemble it and clean all the little parts. any suggestions for this?

and i bought a K&N air filter just for the hell of it.

From my understand your are correct in all you described methodologies for using MMO. To clean the Carb, you’d run some in the gas tank, and put some in the crankcase to cleanse the guts of the engine.

I’m dumping some in the POS Racer this weekend! Figure it will help cleanse my fuel injectors!

How much should be added to a full tank of gas? How much should be added to your cars oil?

Stock 12A has a 4.9 quart capacity. I usually just put one of MMO and 4 of Castrol GTX in the crank case. (Speaking of which. I feel kinda funny referring to a crank case on the RX-7... Is the the proper term? We don't have a crank shaft. Eccentric case? )

Half a quart for the gas tank. 16 Gallons of gas and half a quart of MMO... That's what I use... 128:1 ratio. Maybe that's too little. What do you guys think?

Trailhands,

I don't have the ultimate answer to how much, etc., but here's the recipe I use, but again, to each his own...

I change oil and filter every 3000 miles. I put a little over half a quart to 2/3 quart into the oil resevoir, or sump. (neat replacement for crankcase, eh?) I then dump another quart into the fuel tank....every second oil change, (6000 miles) I pull my plugs, blast 'em or replace 'em if I don't like the looks, squirt maybe 1/4 or 1/3 cup of MMO into the plug holes, then fire 'er up. Once she settles down I take 'er out for a five mile run...

You may use more, or maybe less, but I'm sure you'll be happy, and so will your 7. It's just what the Vet ordered if your hoss is a spinner, or a boinger.

Denny, from the 'ol corncrib...
