Time to do my clutch, but look what else I decided to do.

Another simple project (clutch) turns out to be a big project. Just like my carpet project turned out to be a complete strip and repaint of the interior.

Anyway, my clutch was slippin, so I ordered all the stuff for that, and figured since I was in there, why not do the gasket for the oil pan (leakin) new intake mani gasket/o-rings, new exhaust mani gasket (leakin), and water pump and housing gaskets (also leakin). Then I figured why struggle with a trans on my back, on cement. So I pulled the motor and trans together, and am cleaning them up to put the new parts on. May as well clean my nasty *** engine bay (due to my leakin gaskets) while I'm at it. Anyway, heres some pics of the progress from the weekend. More to come.

Heres what the bay looked like after the leaky motor was pulled. I cleaned it up really good, and will take and post pics later in the week.

I'm also changing from power steering to manual (since my power steering pump was leaky and broken. And I'm adding my SE oil cooler, since the bee hive leaks and is inefficient.

Jsut remove the P/S pump alogn with P/S fluid cooler and on the streering box, you have to run a hose from one fitting to another.

Isn't it the same type but larger size than a brake line? Would I just be able to get it at NAPA or the like? Then just make it short.

In all honesty, this is the best way to do it. It's lots of work, but how often does one need to pull the engine or tranny anyway. You have my vote to recieve the Cleaning Award Cookie for the week. lol.

Good 'ol Engine Brite (the orange kind) and a gallon of gas in my pressure washer, and it took 85% of that crap off. The detail is being handled by a combination of my angle grinder with 6" wheel, drill with 4" wheel, and my Dremel with a variety of attachments.

Figure, why not, its easier to spot leaks with a clean bay, motor, trans.

Haven't modified it yet, not really sure how to either. How and why should I do this. Thanks.

Left is stock while right is modified. Slightly wack the tip of your stocker as show below to get rougly 80 PSI. The more you wack it, the higher the pressure will be. Then shim the large cap on teh front cover with 1/8 washer.

I have pics of the progress on the engine, I just left my camera at home. But I can post those up tonight. Same with the engine bay. The enigne bay was just pressure washed with engine cleaner. I still need to get some rags and open up a can of elbow grease.

In short, pics will be up tonight.

I see a whole bunch of parts that you could send me for powdercoating that are off and some more that could come off to be pc'ed. PM me if you're interested and I'll send you a list of what can be done. It will last longer and look better than any rattle can paint you can buy. The only thing else that will come close is professional painting on some parts and new di-chromate coating on the others.

May take you up on the powercoating. I'm not to concerned with anything 12A related, becasue I'm going to be doing a TII swap once the tax return comes next year. Just gotta remember to file as soon as I get my papers, so I get my return ASAP. I would like to power coat the radiator supports, some of the hard lines on the firewall that are for vac/water (not the brake/fuel ones), Misc brackets, crossmember, ceter steering link. I'm sure there are more parts, I just need to look back at the pictures and in the garage for the rest. Send me over some info on it if you could, thanks.

Now, here are the pics that I took last night, but got to sidetracked to post them.

These are pics of the car/engine after Engine Brite and a nice pressure wash. I am going to go in and do some scrubbing with rags to get the rest of the stuff off, but it still looks good for being pressure wash only.

Mounted my SE oil cooler, but had to make my own mounts becasue the SE ones were totally shot. So, I used 2 pieces of angle aluminum per side, with rubber in between for some flexability.

Yeah while scrubbing down the engine bay you could also use some Tar Remover made by Stoner. It comes in a spray can and is really good for those stuborn stains.
