time for carb rebuild?

About how long does it take to take the carb off, rebuild it, and reinstall? Car has been sitting and the carb is FULL of brown goo. Thanks.

Depends if you count time sitting in carb solvent. Takes me about 3 hours. It's a bear if you don't have a model though, I caution you greatly!. You might be better off to try flushing it. If you take it to a carb shop they can hook it up to a machine and flush it with a plastic and aluminum safe solvent.

Hey buddy, i just got done rebuilding my 83, and im going to tell you, if you dont have a haynes manual, get one, and if you do, take a lot of patience and a really good phillips screw driver. Lots of carb cleaner, and about a full day and a half to spare. Helps if you have someone there the whole take down/clean/reinstall because another set of eyes are a life saver. I did it on my own, and it's possible to on your own, just be patient, and take your time.
