TII Stop

So I'm sure that this has been brought up many times and did try searching for it but was unable to pull up anything of value, so I hope I dont **** anyone off by reposting the same old question, but here we go.

The other night I went to my friends how and he has to older TII's one hes keeping and one he just wants as a shell. How difficult would it be to drop the TII motor and tranny into my 85 GSL? would it be worth the hassle? Any info would be great. Thanks

Yes, it's been covered a billzillion times
Of course your asking a very generic question. So I am going to give you the best generic answer.
To install the motor. You need the Gsl-Se oil pan and it's recommended that you use the Se cover but you can use a 12a front cover if you are pre-mixing.
You will need to modify the front engine mounts because the motor will sit further forward.

Ya, it would be worth it. If you don't need a rebuilt engine though I wouldn't do it until you are in need of a engine. You probably weren't looking hard enough. This has been covered a ton of times. I seems like every other week somebody is asking about a t2 swap. I was actually thinking of doing this recently. I'm not certain on everything needed but will need a GSL-SE crossmember, oil pan, modify the 1st gen engine mounts. Theres some other stuff too. Other people will drop in and let you know. God bless. Doc beat me

Difficulty depends on ability and familiarity with the TII engine. All the info you need is right here, its asked 10 times a week and we have all answered the question a million times over. Its not all condensed into one big post, you have to search around for all the info.......but that kinda violates my rule of thumb when it comes to this sort of a job...."If you have to ask directions at every turn, then you shouldnt be making the journey"

Research, record everything you can find on the subject.Get an FSM for the year of the TII your gonna swap in.Once you are familiar with EVERY aspect of the TII engine, the swap will be easy.Of course we are happy to answer any specific, single problem questions you have along the way,but you need to do a lot of learning before tackling the job.Your starting along the right path, having a complete car to pillage from.Getting all the parts from one car will ensure that all the electronic stuff is compatible and you wont mess anything up,or forget any critical parts.
My research-to-work ratio was about 10-1 when I did my first S4 swap......about 3 months of gathering parts and learning, and about a week to install the engine and wire the ECU to the point that it ran and was driveable. Its well worth the effort.....the TII engine makes 180-200 HP bone stock, with torque where rotaries usually have none.Another 50HP is a simple matter of bolt-on mods.

Correction. Gsl-Se crossmember is not needed. That's what the modification of the mounts are for.

A search will reveal an ocean of information. Tread water until you learn to swim, then swim until you are able to walk on water. It will take lots of research, but all of the answers are there. Well worth the effort needed to accomplish it though. Good luck.
