TII Steering wheel in my FB...

i installed a 87 TII steering wheel in my FB today... this has probly been done a million times, and doesn't make the car any faster, but its a big improvement over the red piece of **** that was on here hahaha... and i gotta toot my own horn(although i was hoping to actually build my motor today, but was held back by 2 bolts that go on the studs on the front plate for the pineapple motor holder thing).... so yeah here we go heres pics
edit: this wheel has been sitting in my wrecked 87 TII in the junkyard for over 2 years... it was covered in mold... i cleaned it up but it still needs new leather wrap

Uh..okay. I like the way those wheels look but nearly every one I've seen has been falling apart. The wrap breaks loose and slips around the wheel itself.

mines wrap is perfectly tight, its just crappy looking from mold and sun and rain and adverse weather

Do the turn signals still cancel? Does the horn still work? I did it once but could't get them to work.

All RX-7 wheels are interchangeable. In fact, all Mazda steering wheels interchange -- you can put an RX-7 wheel on a Rotary Truck, for example. My favorite one is the 3-spoke Series V leather wheel, which I think looks better than the S4 one. For what it's worth, I put an RX-8 steering wheel on my 83 with no problems. Great steering wheel! Big fat ring, premium quality leather. I got it brand new in an eBay auction for $50, which I think was a fluke. It came without the center section (air bag unit, horn, stereo controls, etc), so I had to make my own using foam, fiberglass and leather. One of the nice things is that the steering wheel ring sits an inch or so closer to the driver, which, in my case, works out perfectly for my seating position. The turn signal cancel holes are now aligned vertically, rather than horizontally, but the signals still cancel, though not quite as well as before (I'd estimate 75%). Perhaps that's just psychological, but it seems I have to manually cancel them a few times where the normal setup would do it automatically. Still, a great upgrade.
