Throttle sticking and teeter totter bolt falling off

Okay so i took off my hot start assist (it was makeing my idle go crazy and it idled much better without it) and i took off my cruise control because it didnt workl and i never would use it if it did. After i did all of that i drove over my gfs house about 20 miles no problem the car was runnin fine. I went to go to the gas station and the throttle sticks at full blast and sends me for the ride of my life. I turn the key off and pull over and the linkages were stick all the way to the bottom. I got it to her house after getting the linkage back and checked.

the part on the left jumped off the fingers and moved itself an inch or so higher. Now it gets stuck in various rpms and it runs perfect when i take the bolt off the fingers

my vaccum secondaries still work and i read that was supposed to affect the vac secondaries. anyone know whats going on?

it drives fine with it disconnected but the power gain supposedly from it is enormous and i would rather it be hooked up.

Try spraying it down with some PB blaster or WD40 or something. Make sure it's all connected to the right stuff. Make sure all the springs are where they should be.

If you need something to be held in place zip ties or metal wire are your best friends.

It's a 3 inch or so rod about the size of a piece or wire on the firewall side of the carburetor. I just too mine off.

You know when you start your car out of gear and it jumps to 3000 RPM? That rod controls that and can get stuck.

When you start removing parts like the hot start and cruise from the carb linkage, it can allow parts of that linkage to fall down and wedge itself against the motor. The cable that was in place before, would usually hold this part up out of the way.

I ended up using a zip tie to hold that part out of the way on my old modified carb, and Sterling just removes it. Hope this helps...

Arrow points to the linkage that the hot-start assist attaches to. If it's left dangling, yep, it could easily end up wedged against something and jam the throttle.

You'd almost certainly need to pull the carb to get at it to remove it, though.

Zip tie/wire that lever safely out of place or cut it off. Beautiful carb btw.

The colors remind me of Transformers or something with the big robots. Looks good though.

I'm just hoping it works as good as it looks. We'll find out once my exhaust is done.

The Metalcast paint is one ofthe few I've found that maintains its gloss over time in the engine compartment... and it's fairly fuelproof. Does scratch kinda easy, though.

The colors are darker in real life - - flash sort of washes them out.

so i kinda fixed it. as long bas the teeter totter bolt is off of the main throttle spring itll workj fine. the peddle is a bit stiffer but meh. if it works with itoff itshouldent be a linkage getting stuck? at least its working.

yeh awesome carb alot of work.
