Is the Throttle Opener necessary if AC no longer functions?

I'm completing the rebuild of the carb.
My AC no longer functions.
Does the throttle opener serve any other function beyond opening up the throttle a bit when the AC compressor kicks on?
If not, I will leave it off to open up access.

TIA
