You guys don't visit the other forums much do ya...

The Throttle body mod is a general term that 2nd/3rd gen types use to describe the process of removing the cold idle thermal pellet, and the associated pair of throttle plates. The -SE intake and throttle body is so similar to the S4, I'm sure that it can be done. That is if you are willing to take the good -- increased throttle response, 1-3 Hp power increase, simplicity -- with the bad: touchiness when cold.

It is not worth it on the GSL-SE. There is a good thread on secondaries I think that may address this also.

Id did it on my GSL-SE and i say its worth it...Espically since all it takes is some time. Your car will run a bit better, except in cold when it might not idle as well. Besides that, It was a great mod. Search the 2nd gen forum and follow the instructions...Its basically the same for S4 models and the GSL-SE.

i just performed the throttle body mod on my 85 GSL-SE and definently notice a improvement in throttle response, plus it still starts and idles normally. I would definently suggest an impact driver though due to several of the screws being stuck on my tb.

I've done the TB mod on both the SE and my S4 DD. Worked fine on the SE, kept the cold start on it. Once it got cold here, I went back to stock on the FC. Got tired of holding the gas pedal to warm up the car all the time. S4 LIM are not the same as the SE, but can be made to work if all of the S$ intake is used.

ive done it on mine also , my most recent one that i have done it on is my FC motor in my GSL-SE, i was driving it when it was really cold 30* ( LOL) it was dying out on me until it warmed up my solution was to advance the timing about 2-3* and bump up the idle alil and she doesnt die out on me while warming up.

It didn't make mine any harder to drive, it actually drives better cold or hot now than it did before.
