Talking Three q's

Well, #1 is the most important. The damn E-brake is broke. The light wont turn off, its constantly on. The e-brake barely holds the car too. When in my school parking space, it WILL stop me from roling and if i put it on while going 40 is will slow me down sloowwwwllyy. However, this damn l;ight always bieng on is driving me INSANE.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

How do i turn the damn thing off or fix it!

#2) The air vents are DISGUSTING. I can see all the dust and **** it spit out at me. How can i clean them all without taking the dash out and is there some filter somewhere for it i need to clean?

#3) I was thinking of doing the MMO treatment. Putting it in there, letting it sit over the weekend and crank it up sunday night. After 142,000 miles its bound to be carbony. My question, where the heck can i get MMO? Pep Boys dosent seem to have it, know anyplace i can get it online?

Thanks for the Help :p

regarding your brakes, check your pad's thickness...mine stayed on all the time and when i got a brake job, it went away.

my ebrake doesn't hold well either...seems to get out of adjustent easily.

My e-brake isnt too great... I don't think the RX7's had that great of e-brakes, but check your rear shoes and adjust them tighter...

If your brake fluid is low, the light will come on too.

Before I found out my engine had a bad o-ring, my e-brake didn't hold either, I took off the boot to clean, and under it was a plastic pencil like thing(Like a pencil was cut in half and made into a nut that was long) I tightened it all the way a went around the block got to a bout 40 pulled it and the *** end got very loose and I let off it , then it spun(180) me around at about 30 and I floored it tring to save it but all the car did was smoke its tires backwards about 15-20 feet. That was fun untill I realized my there was no clutch(clutch slave cylinder went ) all better now except for the motor but it is goin to be rebuilt soon

I don't think so. One thing to check is if it is applying the brakes to both sides equally. Even if the adjustment at the E-brake handle is good, it may be grabbing only one side of the rear brakes. Jack up the back of the car and progressively apply the parking (Emergency, Hand) brake while rotating the wheels by hand. If one wheel locks up before the other, you are only getting half the gripping power. There is an adjustment in the cable for this.

What year is your 7? If it's a 79 - 80 I can tell you right now that the round vents on either end of the dash come out with a slight twist and a lot of pulling. Don't worry, they're hard to break. The center vets do come out with a little effort, just pull on one end of the vent and then it should come out.... Hope this helps.

Ive got an 84 GSL. As far as the brake fluid...thats pretty obvious. I never thought of that, ill check here in a sec. Ill jack the back up tomorrow and fool with it. Im betting the pads are going; if so i got some fancy waranty thingy with midas. Last time i rember having the brakes done on it, i was in 8th grade. Jesus, that was 4 years ago, i bet the brake pads ARE bad. :P As fas as the adjustment tool, it like needs some special part? Thats what the mazda mechanic manual has (my dad got it with the car). I called the Mazda dealership. They said they dont have the tools to work on First Gen RX-7's.

WWWWWWWWWWTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTFFFFFFFFFFFF????? ???

Im sorry, but thats bull crap. Looks like ill be going down to the specialty RX-7 shop down the road and ask if i can borrow it, lol. Ack, it sucks having no money. I want to do so much with the car but no cash. O well, thats the way the cookie crumbles, enough bitchin, now i got to do homework.

Crap...bitch..complaign...school sucks too.........i better shut up now...

My e brakes always worked great. Well as good as e brakes go. It slows the car down pretty good. At a dead stop pull the e brake slowly, if you count more than 7 to 10 clicks before it gets really tight it needs adjustment. On the 80 it was simple cuz of the leather boot, but on the later models im unsure. I never adjusted my 85.

Well anyways, under the e brakes cover. Theres a hex nut looking thing with a flathead opening in it, tighten that and it pull the slack outta the e brake line.

After adjusting the e brake cable. You can get in a empty parking lot, pull the e brake a little up and back up, while hitting the main brake several times that will adjust the rear drum brakes. If its a GSL, they should adjust automatically because they are disc. If its a 79 80, you have to adjust them in the back, its a pain in the butt

The light could also be a faulty brake fluid level sensor or a low reservoir

The outer vents you just pull out, turn them sideways and pull 79-83

The center one I didnt know came out on a 79-83 w/o breaking it. I replaced my vernt on my 80 and I had to pull the entire dash theres 2 screws that hold the housing behind the dash panel...On 84-85 models the center radio surround has to come out. The outter vents are secured with a screw underneath and at the top theres a plastic clip, just remove the screw pull down GENTLY and forward, it should come out...
