Those of you with Re-Speed crossmember/steering kit.

What did you do about your front under-cover? It doesn't fit with the new crossmember and steering system. Did you modify and cut it, or are you just not using it anymore?

I'm planning to make a new aluminum pan when I get everything done. My OEM pan was a crusty, bent up mess anyway.

I'm in the process of installing mine and did not realize that the undercover will not fit. I may make one out of plastic sheeting as it is very necessary for cooling and airflow.

We have run for years without the pan without cooling issues. Once the crossmember is mounted you will be able to see where i lines up with the system. Simple trimming and brackets and possibly a few tapped holes in the bottom of the cross tube will mount the stock pan.

I plan to add a organic carbon (read: plywood) splitter/undertray after I get a new front bumper, so until then I'm not going to bother reinstalling mine. It's a pain in the *** to put on anyways.

I've also run for years without it, and never had any cooling issues. However, I did pull it out of storage a few days ago, and if I have the time I plan to clean it up and paint it, then reinstall it before I head down to the Dragon.

Alright, sounds good. I'll probably cut mine to fit. Looks like mostly just need slats for the tie rods to pass through.

You will be at the dragon? Hmmm, I tempted to go. Hopefully my car is done by then. Check out my last weekend's work in the non-tehnical section.

You can see where I've cut the tray from the stock bolt location, down and out. Just knocked off the corner on each side. That slight skewing that looks like a rough edge is the jpg being corrupt. Only shot I have of it though. Mounts up just like stock, using all original holes and bolts. Horrible pictures I know and they were taken before the new motor/cleaning.

Not to hijack, but how long did it take to install the kit for everyone, assuming you did it yourself?

A day and a half. I did front struts, springs, swaybar and bushings at the same time.

Couple days, not counting the time it took to hunt down a manual steering column. The installation is fairly straight forward and pain free, as Billy's measurements are spot-on for the most part.
