Question pre silencers question

original pre silencers, are they a hollow pipe straight thru and about the size of a oval cigar box, just wondering what their make up is and what they really do........and does the original exhaust have two pre and one main cat and then a muffler?, in that order to.

I believe the first two are pre-cats... A silencer is a tube or box with steel wool in it...

Pre silencers look like a very big silencer for a gun. Because actually that is what they are, same concept. My RB presilencer is black and cylindrical. My 80 didn't have cats so I am not sure about a 85. My 86 second gen had two pre cats and a main cat though.
