Those who dyed their carpets.

I was following $100T2's thread on dying the carpet, and I used 4 gallons of water and 2 bottles of dye ( 1 black 1 navy blue) to do the first dying of the carpet. And the 1st carpet dyed well, letting it sit overnight. but than when I put in the other carpet the dye was cold and it didn't seem to absorb the dye very well.

Did anyone else have this problem and do soemthing to fix it? Or how did you guys finishing dying your interior

Did you clean the carpet with any sort of shampoo before you dyed it? I know somtimes it can leave a residue that kind of resists the dye. Also, was the dye and carpet warm when you tried to dye it? I'm not sure it will work to well if its cold...

To clean it I just filled up my bucket with normal water and roughed up the carpet in it, over and over until the water stopped turning black. And the dye was warm the first time but not on the second carpet.

I can warm up the carpet instead of the dye?

Go get you a lil bottle of butane at wally world and turn that bad boy on high and hold it on the water untill it gets hot again. For some reason it works better when the water is HOT! I tried to do the same thing with the water cold, didnt work that well so I went and got out the ol cutting torch and warmed up that bad boy again, worked great.

I don't have the rear hatch carpet, so I don't know how that will dye or not dye... I'm doing custom carpet in there anyway. The way I did my dye was the first half of the front carpet got dyed, soaked about an hour, then I took it out, rinsed it, and put in the back half. That soaked an hour, then I switched.

I also boiled 2 of the four gallons of water, so my water was extremely hot.
