Think i could take him?

One of my friends has a 96 accord(guessing on year) with full exhaust(headers included) and intake. His car is also an auto. I have a stock 85 gs, manual. He got beat by a stock 240sx. I think i could beat him, but i dont wanna race and look stupid gettin my *** handed to me on my first race.

Is the accord VTEC? If it is I wouldn't race him. If not then go for it. You should be able to get him especially since it's auto. If you do race him let us know about the outcome.

Actually, the V-6's come with a considerably sluggish tranny, esp. the auto. If you beat him off the line and try to time your shifts to come after his, you should be able to walk him.

Yeah, just get a solid launch and you'll be able to do it. Hehe, get a picture of his face after you do it too.

Try to get him to go from a roll, that way the auto will delay a second before downshifting, allowing you to get a considerable jump.

Ten years from now, you'll be thinking:

"If only I could go back in time and not race that Accord...my life would be so different."

Ok, I'm not really a Honda guy, but what the hell is an EX-R? Is that an EX with a type R badge on the back???

I am 99% sure no EX-R was offered in the US

its an accord type-R, i'm guessing on the year, and he said it comes stock with 150hp, i would guess he has about 180-190 hp now.

Between his exhaust and intake, I doubt he made 30-40 hp. I'd say he'd be lucky (really lucky) to get 20. Probably got 10-15.

By that logic, most riced civics are putting out somewhere around 150-160 hp. That would be a respectable little car. However, we all know that they are not respectable little cars when the only mods are intake and exhaust.

NOW, throw intake and exhaust on a rotary and you'll net yourself about 30-40 hp. God bless the Wankel

My dad's 94 accord ex w/vtec will (and has) desroyed my 83 rex. I don't care, the rex is much cooler, i'd take it anyday. Besides if I want to wreck an accord I just break out the 82 TA and wreck their *** w/o even breakin a sweat.

Well, if your any good at shifting , and your car runs
good , and you feel the car could handle the event .
by almeans try it ,if you break out clean, and don't
blow a shift, and get ahead enough ,by the time
he starts to gain , it will be over,i've walked on
every civic that called me out , and i'm a stock 1982
12a..but i'm good at shifting , and off the line without
going up in smoke,,,my advantage's,, but they were
on my ***...don't go over 4500 rpm's off the line, or
the wheel(s) will spin,,you don't want to break traction
off the line....let us know the out come

I wouldn't bet money on winning. Especially if its a V6 Accord, they run 15's. The 4 cylinder/auto ones are in the high 16's or so.

Should be a kinda close race.
