I got mine out and then substituted a long fractional bolt that would slide through the holes and lock washered it in place. been there ever since. Bob

k, dumb question time. after taking the motor apart and rebuilding and now wiring back up, I used the picture you posted to wire up my starter.

being as is has been about 3 years since teardown.

and when I hook the battery up, the starter spins, doesnt engage, just spins as soon as I connect the battery.

Thread pitch is the same on the long bolt as the smaller one, if I remember correctly. You should just be able to measure the length of the long bolt and then match up the thread size from the short guy.
